Tip! You may have realised that you and your friends are not the only people that are going to be backpacking through Europe in the summer. If you are travelling in July and August, it is best to try and book your hostel ahead for some places, especially popular cities like Rome, Paris, London and Venice.

After a great deal of research and carefully consideration you have finally decided that it’s time to try backpacking. You have bought the latest backpacking trail guides and plotted your destination at the ultimate get-away location. But before you take off here are a few common sense tips that will keep you safe and help you along during your journey.

Backpacking backpack – A Lightweight Backpacking Adventure

Tip! This is a summer backpacking list, but it’s worth noting that my 17-ounce sleeping bag has kept me warm below freezing. The food adds up more than 6,700 calories, plus I tend to eat a lot of wild berries.

I was in the Weminuche Wilderness Area when the snow came. It was my second day out of Silverton, where the locals told me it rains or snows every day in August. I made a note to myself to do some research next time. Then I made a note to myself to find the trail. I was lost again.

People have different tastes in clothes, shoes, bags, etc. Different events and activities call for different styles too. Definitely, you have a different fashion sense when it comes to parties, sports, outings, trips, and other physical or outdoor activities. You don’t need to over-dress or under-dress, just dress appropriately. This is very true, right? Especially when it comes to rigorous or physically demanding activities. Of course, you wouldn’t want to wear your favorite shirt and shoes when you go hiking or camping.
